Quark Hicapa Slide - FAQ

Can I use an aftermarket blowback unit?

Unfortunately, not. We’ve altered the geometry of the slide and the blowback unit to reduce wear on the nozzle, reinforce areas of the slide, and improve printability of both.

Why is my Hicapa cycling poorly?

Potential issues:

  • Poor seal between nozzle and BBU piston or nozzle and rocket valve (way to check: https://youtu.be/mg5ZvKT1b8M?si=o5uG0SIczd0fC6xm&t=550)

  • Firing pin lock is cracked, causing the firing pin to return when the hammer is pulled back instead of when the firing pin lock is depressed by BBU

    • Air is cut off, and the slide does not fully cycle. May half-cycle or not fully reset the hammer

  • Hammer spring too weak/strong for setup

  • Recoil spring too strong for setup

Why is my Hicapa not feeding?

Potential issues:

  • Firing pin lock is cracked, causing the firing pin to return when the hammer is pulled back instead of when the firing pin lock is depressed by BBU

    • Air is cut off, and the slide does not fully cycle. May half-cycle or not fully reset the hammer

  • Recoil spring too strong for setup, try out stock recoil spring

  • Too many short strokes

  • Nozzle spring too weak
